Years later, with a yearning to return to his roots, Paul began employment as manager of Perkins’ Poultry in Stillmore and returned to his hometown in 1959. He served as manager for many years and later purchased the business, which then became Stillmore Poultry. This business is presently operated by his son and grandson. Paul and his family have operated Little Chick Restaurant in Metter for over 40 years. In addition to his business interests, Mr. Whitfield also served as Mayor of Stillmore from 1966 to 1976 and as a member of the Argibusiness Council of Emanuel County.

Mr. Whitfield and his family attended Swainsboro Church of God for many years. Later he and Jeanette became charter members of Eastwood Church of God, where he served as trustee and church clerk for many years. Mr. Whitfield made the church and his family the center of his life.
